Term 1 Week 5 | 2025

For the first time this year, we came together as a whole College community for our Opening College Mass. Our theme was ‘Open Doors. Open Minds. Open Hearts’, where we celebrated and reflected on our Core Value of Hospitality. Fr John, our Parish Priest, led us in this Eucharistic Celebration and called us to open our hearts and be both accepting and inclusive to all, no matter our differences. Our staff were also Commissioned during the Mass, making a commitment to the students, that they will wholeheartedly share their gifts to enrich the lives of our students, guided by the stories of St Brigid and Nano Nagle.

We were grateful to have Kathy McEvoy, Co-Chair of the Trustees of Kildare Ministries, and Maria D’Aloia, Deputy Chair of the Stewardship Council, join us for this special celebration. We also welcomed Year 7 families who celebrated their first Mass with us and our Year 7 students, who received a gift, welcoming them to our College community. It was a special occasion also for our Class of 2025 who received their ‘Senior’ badges, marking the beginning of their final year of school.

We also took the opportunity to acknowledge our Peer Support Leaders, House Student Leaders from Years 8-11, as well as those students who accepted the positions of Living Justice | Living Peace Captains, Sports Captains, and Arts Captains.

Recently, we celebrated the dedication, perseverance, and achievements of our Middle Years students in Years 7 – 9 for their 2024 results. This assembly is an opportunity to recognise the incredible effort our students have put into their learning and to celebrate their success across a range of academic and personal endeavours. These awards reflect the commitment, enthusiasm, and resilience of our students as they strive for excellence in their learning.

At Kildare College, we believe in recognising not only academic excellence, but also the determination and positive mindset that our students display everyday. Our Academic Awards celebrate students who have achieved outstanding results across multiple subjects, while our Principal Endeavour Awards acknowledge those who have demonstrated consistent effort, persistence, and a strong attitude towards learning.

As we celebrate these achievements, we also look ahead with hope and excitement for the continued growth of our Middle Years students throughout 2025. Their curiosity, passion, and willingness to embrace challenges are what make our learning community so vibrant.

At Kildare College, Material Solutions is more than just a subject, it’s an opportunity for students to develop technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and creative confidence in a hands-on learning environment. As an all-girls college, we take pride in providing an innovative and progressive space where students can explore timber construction, design, and advanced fabrication techniques in our well-equipped Tullow Centre construction zones.

Our students have access to industry-standard tools and technology, allowing them to engage in a wide range of projects. From precision-crafted Bluetooth speaker casings in Year 8, to beautifully designed skateboards, longboards, and end tables in Senior Years, the program is designed to inspire both creativity and craft ship. We pride ourselves on creating pieces that are bespoke and of heirloom quality, ensuring students develop a deep appreciation for design, functionality, and longevity in their work.

The subject’s popularity continues to grow, with 2025 being our largest Stage 2 Material Solutions class to date. Students have achieved remarkable academic results since 2021 when the subject was introduced, including A+ grades and Merits. These results underscore the success of our approach, proving that an all-girls environment fosters excellence in traditionally male-dominated fields, positioning Kildare College as a leader in Material Solutions education. The future looks bright as we continue to refine our program, empowering students with the skills and confidence to excel in design, construction, and beyond.

Welcome to a new year and a new season of sport! Kildare College has nominated a record number of Weekly Sport teams for Term 1. We have ten Volleyball teams, two Basketball teams and a Tennis team.
