Harmony Week was an opportunity to recognise and embrace the tapestry of cultures, traditions, and stories that make us who we are. The theme, “Everyone Belongs,” encouraged us to reflect on how we can continue to make Kildare a welcoming space where everyone feels seen, heard, and valued, especially in our year of Hospitality – Welcoming All.
Our Harmony Week assembly celebrated the rich tapestry of our College community. Devanshi showcased a folk dance from Gujarat. Bianca, Glory and Rui spoke fluently in their first languages of Italian, Igbo, Japanese and Cantonese respectively and encouraged everyone to participate in practising correct pronunciation. We also heard from Alessia and Glory who passionately shared insights into their cultural heritage.
Throughout the week, students participated in various activities, including creating a map that visually represented the many locations where our students have family connections, decorating handprints for a mural in the Resource Centre, writing in different languages and enjoying a High Tea around the World on Friday.
This occasion saw us celebrate the rich diversity brings to our community, making our world vibrant and full of life.

Did you know that Pi is a very special number? It is a transcendental number, which plays a very large role in a lot of the Maths we use and is introduced to students in Year 7 and used throughout high school Mathematics courses (and beyond). With a focus on Number skills in the Middle Years, students can consolidate key skills that underpin most of the mathematics activities we undertake. As a part of this focus on number, we celebrated Pi Day – the International Day of Mathematics.
Students engaged in a variety of lunch time activities. Students created a beaded bracelet where the colours represented the digits of Pi. We also had a Pi recital competition where students had the opportunity to memorise as many digits of Pi as possible. We were wowed by Isabelle (Year 8) who recited 80 digits and Chloe (Year 9) who recited 48 digits. Finally, we had a Pi eating activity where students used Pi to calculate the circumference or area of a choc chip cookie, if they got it correct, they got the cookie! We even had a few teachers opting into this activity.

Our Year 9 Retreat theme was Acting with Integrity for Others. To begin the day, students had an opportunity to connect at the Hijinx Arcade in Rundle Mall. Here, students had a great time enjoying each others company and partaking in the arcade games and bowling.
The second part of the retreat continued at Balmoral Reserve when after lunch, students and staff were given time to reflect on the purpose of the day through walking and reflecting on homelessness in South Australia. Students have learnt about the role of the Hutt St Centre in supporting the homeless and some of their programs. With this in mind, we began our Walk a Mile to end Homelessness journey from Balmoral Reserve, through the Hope Valley Reservoir and then back to Kildare College. It was a beautiful day of connection and reflection.

SACSSGSA Athletics Carnival
Kildare College competed in the SACSSGSA Athletics Carnival and as a College, finished the day 3rd overall in the B Grade. Congratulations to our Under 13 and Under 16 age groups, who both finished 1st in their category!
Congratulations to all students who participated and well done on your amazing athletic achievements.
Beach Volleyball Carnival
On the 25 March, Kildare College took 3 Volleyball teams down to Glenelg to play in the Beach Volleyball Carnival. The teams played well, with the Years 8 and 9 narrowly missing out on finals. The Year 7 team was successful and won the finals against Temple Christian College.
Well done to all of our teams; it is very exciting to be able to see the growth in Volleyball this year.

Coming Soon: ‘Buy a Seat and Make it Yours’ in our new Lightbridge Centre Theatre
The Hall began the story of Kildare in 1966 and is a beloved part of our College’s history, that has witnessed countless memories, milestones and achievements. In one way or another, the Hall has been part of everyone’s Kildare journey, and we invite our community to join us for this event to honour its legacy and stand in the Hall one last time.
This celebration is not only to bid farewell to the Hall, but also to raise funds for the Lightbridge Centre – our new Performing Arts and Wellbeing Centre, set to open in 2026, coinciding with Kildare College’s 60th Anniversary. This celebration is both a tribute to the past and an exciting development for the future, as we commemorate six decades of growth, dedication and vision.
Funds raised from ticket sales and the auction will go directly towards the Lightbridge Centre project. We are delighted to have the services of renowned auctioneer Bernard Booth at this fundraising event.
Join us for an unforgettable evening of nostalgia, reflection, and reconnection.
We encourage our community to reach out and reconnect with anyone who is or has been part of the Kildare community and share this information (Old Scholars, former Principals, past staff, present families and staff). If you have any questions, please email Grace, on [email protected].
We look forward to celebrating this historic occasion with all of you.
