This week, Kildare College came together to celebrate Harmony Week – a special time in our College calendar where we pause to reflect on the importance of respect, inclusion, and belonging.
At Kildare, we believe that every person brings something unique and valuable to our community. Harmony Week provides an opportunity for our students to deepen their understanding of one another and to recognise that justice begins with noticing who is missing and ensuring every voice is heard.
Pastoral Care Activities
Students began the week with an extended Pastoral Care session, where they participated in a reflective prayer focused on respect and inclusion, watched a short video about bias, engaged in guided discussions that challenged them to reflect on their own actions, and took part in a Harmony Week Kahoot that reinforced key messages around respect, dignity, and fairness.
Harmony Week Assembly
We gathered as a whole College to celebrate the richness of our diverse community and to acknowledge the importance of standing together in respect and unity. Our Chanel House Student Leaders led the assembly, focusing on the concept of an “invisible backpack” to illustrate how racism and bias can act as unseen weights that people carry through their everyday experiences. This reminded us that our words and actions can either add to that burden or help lighten it through conscious choices of kindness, inclusion, and understanding.
“Respect Starts with Us” – Year 7 Workshop
Our Advocacy Captains conducted a student-led initiative focused on stereotyping and discrimination, and the impact these can have on individuals and communities. These students recognised an important issue within our community and acted, demonstrating leadership in its truest form.
Lunchtime Activities throughout the Week
The Resource Centre hosted a variety of activities, providing students with opportunities to connect, reflect, and celebrate together.
High Tea Around the World
A highlight of the week, this event, hosted by our Chai and Chat and Living Justice | Living Peace groups, celebrated culture through food, conversation, and community.
‘Pass the Power’ Activity
During House gatherings, students participated in a powerful activity focused on affirming one another through messages of kindness, respect, and encouragement.
A Visible Commitment to Belonging
Students and staff embraced the opportunity to wear an orange accessory throughout the week, symbolising cultural diversity, respect, and social cohesion.
Harmony Week is more than a celebration – it is a reminder of who we are called to be as a community. At Kildare, we continue to strive for a culture where every student feels seen, valued, and a true sense of belonging.

On Monday 16 March 2026 we celebrated Pi Day, traditionally celebrated on March 14 (3/14 in the American date format, representing the first digits of π: 3.14). We brought the celebration into our College calendar to share the joy of mathematical beauty, curiosity and creativity.
Pi (π) is one of the most fascinating numbers in mathematics, a never‑ending, non‑repeating decimal that represents the ratio of a circle’s circumference to its diameter. Pi Day is an opportunity for students to explore the beauty of mathematics in fun, hands‑on, and memorable ways.
During lunch, students took part in a range of pi‑themed challenges and activities. Our Pi Eating Competitions involved more than just food, students had to calculate the area or perimeter of a chocolate chip cookie, or even the volume of a Chupa Chup lollipop before they could enjoy their treat! Others created Pi Day bracelets, where each bead colour represented a digit of pi, helping students visualise the infinite sequence in a creative way.
A highlight of the day was our Pi Recital Competition, where students put their memory skills to the test.

Retreats at Kildare College offer students a powerful chance to deepen friendships, step away from their daily routines, and reflect on how they can live out our Core Values in meaningful ways. This week, our Year 9 students embraced this opportunity during their Retreat, centred on the theme of Courage — speaking and acting with integrity — alongside our 2026 core value of Justice.
The day kicked off with plenty of excitement at Hijinx Arcade, where students threw themselves into a range of high-energy activities, including arcade games, dodgem cars and immersive escape rooms. Laughter, teamwork and friendly competition filled the morning as students strengthened connections and created shared memories.
Midday provided a quieter, reflective moment as the cohort gathered at St Pius X Church for a liturgy. This sacred space allowed students to pause and reflect on what courage truly means, particularly the courage to stand up for others and support those in need within our wider community.
In the afternoon, students put their values into action through a hands-on justice activity, donating essential hygiene items such as toothbrushes, toothpaste and soap to support Community Works BASP (Brigidine Asylum Seekers Project). Creativity and reflection continued as students crafted felt heart keyrings and wrote heartfelt letters to their future selves, capturing their hopes, goals and reflections from the day.
Overall, the Retreat was a rich and memorable experience, one that encouraged students to lead with courage, act with compassion, and commit themselves to justice both now and into the future.
It was a fantastic day of competition and school spirit as our athletics team represented Kildare College at the SACSSGSA Athletics Carnival. With determination, teamwork and resilience on full display, our students delivered outstanding performances throughout the day.
We are incredibly proud to share that Kildare College finished 1st overall in B Grade, an exceptional achievement that reflects the hard work and commitment of both our athletes and staff. Adding to this success, our students claimed 1st place in the Under 13, Under 14 and Under 16+ age divisions, highlighting the depth of talent across multiple year levels.
Our team represented the College with pride, sports-personship and enthusiasm, supporting one another both on and off the track. The atmosphere was energetic, positive and truly reflective of the Kildare spirit.
A special congratulations goes to Aizure C and Ava W, who earned places in the prestigious Championship 100m Race at the conclusion of the carnival. This elite event features the top ten fastest 100m runners from the entire day, a remarkable accomplishment in itself. Aizure ran a strong race to finish 5th, while Ava secured an outstanding 3rd place against some very tough competition.
We congratulate all students who competed and contributed to such a memorable and successful day. Congratulations to our athletes on their incredible efforts and achievements. What a proud moment for Kildare College!
