It has been a fantastic start to the year and a wonderful first term across our College as we celebrate 60 years of Kildare College.
In our Year of Justice, our students have shown a clear commitment to look beyond themselves, to notice others, and to act with compassion and courage in everyday moments.
There has been a real sense of energy and involvement from everyone, especially our students. They have embraced their learning while also immersing themselves in the many opportunities that bring our community to life.
As we conclude Term 1, there has also been so much to celebrate. Our Opening College Mass brought us together as a community, alongside Old Scholars and special guests, grounding us in who we are and who we are called to be. International Women’s Day, Harmony Week and our Middle Years Assembly with Dana Wortley reminded us of the importance of voice, respect and standing up for what is right. Our Year 7 Camp, Year 9 and 11 Retreats, the Year 10 Lamp of Learning, the Year 12 Family Breakfast and the Senior Formal have each marked important moments of growth and connection.
We are incredibly proud of our students. The way they show up, support one another and make the most of each opportunity is a joy to witness.
Watching the Hall come down has been both emotional and exciting. It holds many memories, yet it also marks the beginning of something new. The Lightbridge Centre will be a place of learning, creativity and wellbeing for generations of young women to come.

The 2026 Kildare College Senior Years Music Night was a wonderful showcase of the incredible hard work, talent, and teamwork of music students ranging from Years 9 to 12. Held at the Osmond Terrace Function Centre, the event consisted of one matinee and two evening performances for audiences to support the Kildare College musicians, while witnessing high calibre performances of a range of artists, genres, and decades.
This year’s performances followed the theme of “Breaking Chains,” focusing on music that highlights justice, equality, and presenting powerful performances to evoke these emotions. The program featured a diverse repertoire of songs with strong social messages, including I Will Survive by Gloria Gaynor, What a Wonderful World by Louis Armstrong, and Nina Cried Power by Hozier. The evening concluded with a powerful finale performance of Earth Song by Michael Jackson, bringing the theme of justice and global responsibility to a moving close.
Beyond the performances themselves, the evening highlighted the commitment and growth of the students throughout the year. Preparing for a live performance requires persistence, teamwork, and confidence, and these qualities were evident across the program. Each group brought its own interpretation and energy to the stage, creating moments that were both engaging and thought-provoking for the audience. The concert served as a reminder that music can carry powerful messages, encouraging listeners to reflect on important issues while connecting people through a shared musical experience.
Rostrevor College Visit
Our Living Justice Living Peace Captains had the exciting opportunity to engage in a think-tank with Justice Captains from Rostrevor College. Students brainstormed how they could work together in their shared mission to walk in the footsteps of Jesus. The groups will come together again later in the year to complete other projects including cooking soup for those experiencing homelessness and advocating for gender equality.
Living Justice Living Peace Seminar
Living Justice Living Peace students Alessia and Hannah travelled to Saltbush in Victoria along with students from other Kildare Ministries schools to deepen their understanding of justice. Guest speaker Hana Assafiri shared her story of helping women who have been affected by domestic violence, inspiring students to trust their instincts and stand up for what is right. The seminar was a moving opportunity to commit to our core values and plan future actions.
SEEDS Project
Students in the Environmental Group are privileged to be stewards of two endangered plants. This term, they worked to prepare Swainsona behriana seeds for planting. Excitingly, the seedlings are already starting to grow! Seeds will be collected from the plants as they grow and stored for future conservation efforts.
Road Watch Clean Up
Last week, students took to the streets around the College to pick up litter and look after our local environment. Students were able to remove rubbish such as coffee cups, soft plastics and much more from the streets, preventing it from polluting our waterways and soils.
Holden Hill Kindergarten Visit
Our Year 10 Child Studies students recently enjoyed a wonderful hands-on learning experience during their visit to Holden Hill Kindergarten. This exciting opportunity allowed students to put theory into practice as they worked closely with young children, building communication skills while sharing important messages about healthy eating in a fun and meaningful way.
Throughout the visit, students enthusiastically read a range of children’s books that explored food choices and healthy habits, sparking curiosity and lively discussion. They then led a variety of interactive activities including food sorting games, colouring tasks and simple challenges, all designed to reinforce positive food choices in an engaging, age-appropriate way.
The experience challenged students to demonstrate confidence, leadership and adaptability as they responded to the interests and needs of the kindergarten children. It also provided valuable insight into early childhood development and highlighted the importance of positive role modelling in young learners’ lives.
The visit proved to be a rewarding and memorable experience for both the Year 10 students and the kindergarten children. It highlighted the power of community connections and practical learning, with the enthusiasm and engagement from everyone involved clearly reflecting the success of the day.
