Our Core Value of Hospitality – Welcoming all was tangible in our National Reconciliation Week events.
The 2025 theme, ‘Bridging Now to Next,’ emphasises the connection between the past, present, and future, inspiring collective action toward connection and building stronger relationships. We welcomed Uncle Mickey who began the assembly with a Smoking Ceremony, followed by a Welcome that reminded us to speak up for injustice, no matter what form. This was followed by students’ reflections, dance and music. Brooke Lovegrove (Class of 2016) shared her journey beyond Kildare as a proud, young Indigenous woman. Her message resonated with everyone present. Thank you to the Nunga Group’s families and other special guests who joined us for the assembly and light refreshments.
Additionally, students baked damper, designed tote bags inspired by the work of two Aboriginal artists to express their connection to significant places, and crafted feather flowers. A highlight of the week was an excursion where students further explored the Kaurna language. Under the guidance of expert language teachers they explored pronunciation, vocabulary, and basic grammar, gaining a deeper appreciation for the cultural and living significance of the Kaurna language today.

Set against the beautiful backdrop of the Adelaide Hills, the Year 10 Camp at Mylor Adventure Camp was a memorable experience for all involved. With cold and crisp autumn weather adding to the atmosphere, students embraced the conditions with a positive spirit. Despite the chill in the air, they took each challenge in stride, showing resilience and teamwork.
One of the standout features of the camp was the range of outdoor adventure activities that encouraged students to step out of their comfort zones. In particular, the challenge course lived up to its name. Mud and freezing cold water pushed students to their limits, but they tackled it with laughter and determination, supporting each other every step of the way. The flying fox offered a thrilling ride, while the giant swing gave everyone a rush of adrenaline as they soared through the air.
The evenings brought a different kind of excitement. On the first night, students gathered around a large bonfire. It was a time for connection and simply enjoying each other’s company. Later that evening, spotlight in the dark – and it was very dark, added an extra thrill as students raced around trying to avoid the beam of the torch.
Night two featured a quiz night that brought out students’ competitive sides in a fun and light-hearted way. Teams worked together to answer questions, cheer each other on, and enjoy the group dynamic. The evening ended with Just Dance, the Nutbush, and the Zorba that saw students and staff dancing, laughing, and letting go. It was a joyful and lively way to wrap up a busy day.
The aim of the camp was to foster connections among students, and it was clear that this goal was achieved. Whether it was helping a friend through the muddy course, sharing a laugh around the fire, or dancing side by side, students came away with strengthened friendships.
The Year 10 Camp will be remembered not just for its fun and challenges, but for the meaningful connections and memories it created.
Our Year 10, 11 and 12 Drama students performed two separate, yet connected, plays around the events and treatment of women in the 15th Century at our 2025 Senior Drama Production.
The Year 10 class presented ‘Queens’, exploring the perils of being married the King Henry VIII. The cast displayed energetic portrayals of their characters, that brought them to life as they delved into the intrigue, betrayal and ill treatment, at the hands of King Henry VIII.
The Year 11 and 12 class performed ‘Ladies of the Tower’ which explored the harrowing stories of women who were imprisoned in the Tower of London, throughout history, and the misfortune that they met, were all brought to life with the mature and subtle performances of the cast.
Both productions offered students a powerful platform to showcase their acting talents and diving into rich, complex characters. They captivated their audiences and brought each story vividly to life. The final performances were a true reflection of the dedication, creativity, and countless hours of hard work poured into every scene. A huge congratulations to all the students.
Over 100 enthusiastic students from Years 10, 11, and 12 connected with inspiring Old Scholars at our 2025 Mentors Breakfast. It was truly an unforgettable morning of conversation, connection, and career inspiration.
We were thrilled to welcome Louise McGuire our Keynote Speaker, and other Mentors who generously shared their personal journeys, offering real-world insights and encouragement. From balancing study, work and family, to navigating the twists and turns of their career paths, their honesty and wisdom sparked curiosity and confidence in our students.
The atmosphere was buzzing with energy and meaningful dialogue. More than just a breakfast, this event ignited new ambitions, strengthened community bonds, and reminded our students that their goals are within reach. It was a powerful reminder of what’s possible when everyone comes together to support and inspire each other.
