The Middle Years and Senior Years Academic Awards Assemblies were a celebration of student achievement, growth and the College’s commitment to excellence. We were delighted to welcome many families to share in this special occasion, reinforcing the strong sense of community that defines Kildare.
A highlight of the assemblies was the presence of two Old Scholars who returned to share their journeys since graduating from Kildare, offering students powerful insights into life beyond school.
Ade Suharto (Class of 1995) spoke at the Middle Years Assembly, captivating the audience with her reflections on lifelong learning, persistence, and the importance of self-belief. As a passionate advocate for the arts and education, Ade encouraged students to embrace their individuality, reminding them that “our uniqueness is our gift.” Her message resonated deeply, inspiring students to value their personal strengths and pursue their goals with confidence.
Kerry Fleetwood (Class of 2002) addressed the Senior Years Assembly, sharing her experiences as a jeweller navigating a traditionally male-dominated industry. Kerry spoke about the challenges she faced and the resilience she developed along the way. She credited her time at Kildare with helping shape her into a strong, independent woman, and encouraged students to remain steadfast in their ambitions, even when the path forward is uncertain.
These assemblies not only celebrated academic excellence but also highlighted the values of courage, determination, and community that lie at the heart of Kildare College. We are deeply grateful to Ade and Kerry for sharing their stories and for continuing to inspire the next generation of Kildare graduates.
Over 300 students from Kildare College, Rostrevor College, Christian Brothers College, and Blackfriars Priory School came together for our annual Kildare College Social. With this year’s ‘Denim Disco’ theme, students brought their creativity, style, and infectious energy to the dance floor.
The DJ kept everyone moving, and the conga line was a particular highlight, spreading smiles and laughter throughout the night! Students enjoyed delicious food and drinks while eagerly taking part in activities led by our Year 12 College Captains and Prefects, who ensured the evening ran smoothly, safely, and with plenty of fun.
More than just a dance, the Denim Disco was a celebration of friendship, school spirit, and cross-school community. It was inspiring to see students confidently expressing themselves, connecting with others, and embracing the night in a fun, respectful and supportive environment.
A heartfelt thank you to our Year 12 leaders, staff, and students for making the evening such a success. The Years 8 and 9 Kildare College Social was truly a night of energy, connection, and lasting memories. We can’t wait for next year – more smiles, more dancing, and more memories!
This week we reimagined the traditional Year 12 Family Breakfast, moving it from its usual Term 4 farewell slot to a more purposeful moment in the year. This new timing was designed to foster connection, encouragement, and support for our most senior students as they prepare to tackle the final stretch of their secondary education.
The breakfast brought together students and their families in a moment to pause, reflect, and rally around our Year 12 Students—not just to celebrate how far they have come, but to empower them for what lies ahead.
Angela Giacoumas from Emotus, our guest speaker presented practical strategies for navigating the challenges of Term 4 with confidence and resilience.

Angela’s message aligned beautifully with Kildare’s vision: to nurture confident, assertive and compassionate young women. Her words provided a toolkit for students to carry with them through the final months of their schooling.
Year 12 Family Breakfast marks a thoughtful evolution in how we support our students; standing beside them as they take their final steps toward graduation, equipped with courage, calm, and community.
Kildare College embraced the theme of National Science Week 2025, ‘Decoding the Universe – Exploring the Unknown with Nature’s Hidden Language’ through a range of engaging activities. Students explored what it might take to live beyond Earth by building their own Mars Biomes, considering the factors needed to sustain a colony on Mars. A school wide ‘Decoding the Universe’ scavenger hunt deepened students’ understanding of our universe, while a presentation from STEM MANIA inspired curiosity and celebrated the wonders of STEM. Led by our dedicated Science and STEM teachers, the week provided rich, hands-on learning experiences for all year levels.
Our Science and STEM curriculum continues to ignite curiosity and creativity across all year levels. Year 7 students have taken on the role of astronomers, recording and observing the night sky as part of their Earth and Space unit. Year 8 students have combined their learning about plate tectonics and seismic activity with an engineering challenge in STEM, investigating how to design an earthquake proof high-rise tower. Year 9 STEM students are exploring renewable energies through practical investigations before designing solutions to real-world energy challenges. Year 10 Science students have been applying Newton’s Laws to car safety through a deconstruction and design task, using our F1 track to test their hypotheses in action.
Congratulations to Year 9 student Sophie Richards on receiving a Highly Commended award in the SASTA Oliphant Science Awards – Photography category. Her stunning entry, Feathery Friends, was inspired by the vibrant colours, unique personalities, and natural habitats of South Australian bird species. Science and STEM at Kildare continues to inspire curiosity, creativity, and innovation – and we cannot wait to see what discoveries the rest of the year will bring.
Round 9 was Pink Round, a special event dedicated to raise awareness for breast cancer, encouraging screening, and supporting the 20,000+ Australian women diagnosed each year. Students, coaches, and spectators wore a pop of pink to show their support. This was a great reminder to take a moment and reflect on the deeper meaning and walk with empathy for those affected.
